The Fourth Industrial Evolution and the Future of Leadership

We’re facing the Fourth Industrial Evolution as new technological innovations like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data are transforming the way the world operates. Along with the evolution, the new world will require a new set of minds and skills that are critical for the future. This session is designed to discuss the key concepts of the Fourth Industrial Evolution and introduce the concept of Five Minds of the Future by professor Howard Gardner to explain how we should shift our perspectives and change our approaches in developing skill sets that will be important for the leaders of the future. Various business cases and examples will be used to help demonstrate why these new minds and skills will be important and how talent development professionals may be able to help organizations and individuals build them.
Nam S. Cho is the APAC HR lead for Qualcomm, a world leader in wireless communication technology and solutions. Nam oversees Qualcomm’s HR operations in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and other countries in the APAC region. Before joining Qualcomm in 2008, he was the senior manager of organization development and learning with LG Electronics for their U.S. mobile business unit. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of organization development, change management, talent development, leadership development, and HR management. Nam received the ASTD Excellence in Practice Award for his work on the Top Technical Talent program in 2010.
Nam has a master’s degree in organizational behavior from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University in the United States and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Korea University in South Korea.
