HR As a “Prediction Machine”: The Future of AI in HR

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are increasingly applied to HR processes such as talent recruitment, selection, learning, coaching, well-being, and even remuneration, with many claimed advantages. Ajay Agrawal and his colleagues have described AI as a “prediction machine” that will become more capable, less expensive, and more prevalent. How should HR leaders apply AI? Should AI be trained to mimic human decisions, achieve the best outcomes, or both? How should the HR function adapt when AI can replace human HR professionals for some tasks? How should the HR profession lead and model the proper use of AI as an example for other disciplines?
